I think with how things are I would have our lines something like this
CK Step MSL
Nash Brass Zucc
Miller/Hayes(one on wing one at center) Hags
Malone (depending on camp) Moore Stempniak/Glass

I don't like the 3rd line but at the same time I wouldn't put any of them on the 4th line.

Maybe he is waiting to the start of the season to name a captain because he wants to wait and see if Marc Staal is signed to a new deal first? That is my thought. Otherwise if it is gonna be McDonagh, yea I would do it now. Let him get used to that C during the training camp/preseason.

I like Moore as center because he is really good at the dot, but if moving him to wing means Miller and Hayes both make the team, I am all for it. Moore can still take the PK faceoffs.

I think the 3rd line will end up being either Miller/Hayes with Stempniak and Hagelin

it's almost as if there will be a competition between Miller and Hayes for a prime top 9 spot in the lineup, and the loser of the competition may find themselves in Hartford rather than waste away on the 4th line.

I don't think the 4th line is much of a waste away spot on this team anymore. AV loves to roll 4 lines, they are gonna see the ice.

I'm making the prediction now that Hags is playing the wing with Brass and Zucc to start the season, he's my breakout candidate and I want to see Stemp on the 4th line, gives us some of that depth advantage back

I think I just mean in terms of development, especially in Hayes' case.

I think if he doesn't win a spot on the 3rd line the smart thing to do would be to have him in Hartford playing substantial minutes, rather than the 4th line here.

Capt... not one of the Mac fans ,should be, could be ,just not now ,more pressure ?needs this yr to start alot better than it ended ,since injury in Van . his game was trying to get back to where it was ,to flashes of pre injured Mac but not same with G man in playoffs and finals exposed there shaky games ... if we had pre injured Mac & Gman we woulda -coulda -should a .... thank god its a new season !!
I have said this with confidence that the finals were the closet 4-1 series with more puck luck plays But our best game was not there from top 2 ...it showed!!!
the line combos are intriguing to say the least ... 1st i am seeking an upgrade at top middle coming ... but for GM review i really like the
Stepan-MSL- Krieds
Brassy (if not traded ) Zucc - Nash off wingin it ( could be the answer and chemistry ,only issue is can he get more physical to operate with the 2 buzz saws
if Nash is dropped to 3rd line u left it open ? with who ,we have so much to manuever for top out put from lines at least ,rolling 4 with 5 -6 lines to generate some juice to knock out the finals hangover possibility ....

Yea that is true. I am also at the point to that if Hayes on the 4th line gives the Rangers the best chance to win this year, then I am all for it haha. I want that damn cup.

that pretty much puts Nash or MSL on the 3rd line

I think anything is possible at this point. But it sounds like they wanna try Nash in that role of the big forward that Pouliot played for the Brass-Zucc duo last year

I think Ryan McDonagh arguably had one of the best playoff series any Ranger player has ever had in team history in the conference final vs the Canadiens.

Yup, looked real bad in the Philly series, average in the Pitt series, and un-(frank)ing-believable in the Habs series.

He was also injured and wouldn't admit to it. once his shoulder? got better you saw him improve. I'm honestly shocked we never heard about him, or any other ranger for that matter, have off season surgery

I think Rick Nash needs to play with one of the two establish centers, Stepan or Brassard. I think playing him with a rookie at the pivot, at least to start the season, wouldn't take full advantage of the threat that we know he can be when he is going good. If he has to move to the left side to accomodate that, so be it.

Also, in proof that I actually read the blog, Jan, is Justin Falk still on the team? I may be wrong, but I thought he signed elsewhere.

He had to be. If i had to guess maybe a deep bruise in the shoulder, or something very painful that didn't require surgery. Probably why we didnt hear anything.

No way, I was told it was his fault Girardi fell, and McDonagh flew the zone and was responsible for that 1st loss and it was all down hill from there.

Its really amazing, undrafted warrior for us, his skate gets caught in a rut, and he is the worst ever and needs to be traded.

Remember, he was coming back from the injury and was clearly not himself. I think he had zero points his first 10 games, but 15 in the next 16 or so.
